Kapaa High School girls soccer stopper Mia O’Rourke stops the advance of Island School forward Kolohai Kuhaulua in the second half on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation soccer games played at the Island School field. Kapaa girls ended stalemating the Voyager wahine, 1-1. The Kapaa boys finished with a 7-0 win over Island School. Over at Hanapepe Stadium, the Kauai boys ended in a 1-1 tie with the Menehune boys. The Kauai girls finished with a 3-2 edge over Waimea.

The work of artist Maryann Donagher (she teaches art at Kauai High School) gets some looks on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, during the Downtown Lihue Night Market. The Kauai Society of Artists gallery will host the Kauai High School Art Show April 20-26.

Stan’s Hawaiian Style Flying Saucers was pretty much sold out (must’ve been those bicyclists — they weren’t part of the Bikes on Rice “slow roll”— who came to the Downtown Lihue Night Market looking for food). There was no Sumiko’s since they got wiped out during the Mele Makeke, but the new Kauai Treats & Eats tent was a nice stopping-off place on the way to visit Kickshaw’s.
