LIHUE — A detective with the Kauai Police Department was recognized for his outstanding service during an award ceremony on Dec. 20.
KPD Detective Bobby Thompson was honored and recognized by the Kauai Police Commission during its monthly meeting on Friday for his efforts in closing several cases and for his dedication to the safety of Kauai’s community.
Thompson was acknowledged for his meticulous investigative expertise, coordination with patrol officers, and commitment to justice, which has had a profound impact across the Garden Island.
“Detective Thompson has demonstrated incredible dedication and professionalism in these cases,” said Deputy Chief Mark Ozaki.
“His unwavering commitment to justice and his ability to connect cases and gather evidence have made a significant difference in ensuring public safety on Kauai. His actions set an example of excellence within our department and our community.”
Thompson’s efforts have led to the apprehension of suspects involved in numerous offenses such as firearm offenses, vehicle break-ins, thefts and drug-related crimes among other fraudulent activities.
The detective has also managed to recover stolen property and has a significant connection with his colleagues to resolve broader criminal patterns, according to KPD.
KPD also extended its gratitude to the Office of Prosecuting Attorney for their collaboration to ensure offenders are held accountable and provide justice.
The police commission presented Thompson with several lei and a certificate to celebrate his exceptional service.
