Thomas ‘Tom’ Trombley
It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of Thomas “Tom” Trombley, 81, of Kilauea, who passed away at home on Dec. 1, 2024. He was born in Glendale, California, on April 23, 1943, and moved to Kauai in 1989, while still working as a firefighter/paramedic with Los Angeles County.
In his prime he was an avid athlete and participated in league baseball, basketball and volleyball teams. He also enjoyed snow skiing and running as well. After his retirement he loved fishing, golf and biking with his many friends and growing his famous “Tom’s Tomatoes.” He was a long time member of the North Shore Lions and enjoyed serving his community, cooking for large crowds was his specialty.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years Barbara, daughter Marianne and son Ryan. Also, he leaves behind his close friends and his Firefighting Ohana.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity or Kauai Hospice in his name.
Hannah H. Furuta
Hannah H. Furuta passed away on Nov. 23, 2024, in Lihue, Kauai,at the age of 101. She was born on May 13, 1923, in Wahiawa, Hawaii. She was a secretary.
She was preceded in death by husband Masao Furuta, parents Toshiichi and Mika Tanabe, siblings Bertha Nakamura, Shizue Takaki, Kay Hirata, Hideko Fujioka and Stanley Tanabe.
She is survived by daughters Carolyn Ohara, Gayle Furuta-Okayama, son Miles Furuta, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life to be private.
