Edward K. Keoho Sr.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ed Keoho Sr., a beloved community leader, at the age of 81 on Aug. 23, 2024. He was born in Jan. 1943. Ed proudly served as Sergeant First Class (E7) in the U.S. Army for over 21 years, followed by more than two decades with the Kauai Police Department.
His commitment to service extended to his work with the Veterans Administration Board, where he served as State Commander, passionately advocating for fellow veterans.
A devoted family man, Ed was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Keoho Haluapo, his first wife Carolyn Ann Keoho and his second wife Marilyn Jean Keoho.
He is survived by Janis Diamond, his children Leilani (Elton) Kaui, Leimomi (Leroy) Garcia, Edward (Rochelle) Keoho Jr., and Malia (Canen) Hookano, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his brothers Clifford (Danette) Lee, Francis (Debbie) Lam, and David (Bruna) Lam, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, at the Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by services. The family suggests aloha attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
Ed’s legacy of honor, courage, and love will be cherished by all who knew him.
Domingo Aguinaldo
Domingo Aguinaldo, of Kaumakani, passed away on Oct. 31, 2024, at home at the age of 85. He was born on Oct. 1, 1939, on Kauai. He was a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his father Juan Aguinaldo, mother Generosa Aguinaldo, brothers Amado Aguinaldo, Jackie Aguinaldo and Faustino Aguinaldo.
He is survived by his daughters Crystal Lee Aguinaldo (Ed Yamase) of Waimea, Angela Prigge (Brandon Frasco) of Kaumakani, grandchildren Kayla Prigge, Kailana Prigge, sisters Marina (Benny) Villatora of Puhi, Julia (Andy) Tambua of Wailua, Carol Rita of Eleele, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a celebration of life. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy Yoshino Higuchi
Dorothy Yoshino Higuchi, 105, of Lihue, passed away on Oct. 21, 2024, peacefully at home. She was born in Koloa on Aug. 17, 1919. She attended Koloa Elementary school and graduated from Kauai High School in 1937. Most of her career was working for Sears Roebuck where she retired after 28 years. During her retirement, Dorothy was active volunteering for Wilcox Hospital, Kauai Civic Center and Hawaii Blood Bank over the span of 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Shoso Higuchi, four brothers and five sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her son Rodney Higuchi, daughter Sandy (Mike) Takaezu, grandchildren Tina (Brian) Ejima, Ty (Alicia) Takaezu and service dog Pandi.
The family expresses gratitude for their services of: Dr. Lao, Wilcox Hospital, Garden Isle Rehab, Kauai Care Center, Stay at Home, Kauai Hospice Staff and her two home caregivers, Rhonda and Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 7, 2024, at Lihue Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Kenneth K. Casil Jr.
Kenneth Kealoha Casil Jr., 52, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, passed away on Oct. 16, 2024, at The Queen’s Medical Center, West Oahu. He was born on Feb. 1, 1972, in Kealakekua, Hawaii.
He was an entertainer and worked for American Fence Co. and Allied Fence Co., which led him to eventually start his own business, Pa‘ahana Fencing.
He is predeceased by wife Rogelyn Rita Casil, father Kenneth K. Casil, grandparents Daniel and Lucy Kailiwai, Leonardo and Rebecca Casil, Frank and Agnes Medeiros and in-laws Roger and Geneviva Ramos.
He is survived by daughter Kenna-Seanne K. Casil, sons Kenson K. Casil, Kenneth K. Casil III, mother MaryLou (Frank R.) Medeiros, brothers Todd (Robin) Medeiros, Scott Medeiros, Patrick Medeiros, sisters Kristy (Shane) Kahananui, Tasha Casil Yandall, Apelila Casil Yandall, Tehani Casil Kahakua, Te Mana Casil Duh, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended Ohana.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Plebecita Gandeza Jaquias

Plebecita “Nanang” Jaquias, of Hanamaulu, passed away on Nov. 5, at the age of 88. She was born in Tayum, Abra, Philippines on April 26, 1936. She relocated to Hawaii in 1974, where she worked for Lihue Plantation and Sheraton Hotel.
She was predeceased by parents Eusebia Balauro and Ricardo Gandezo, husband Ruben Jaquias, Hipolito Aquias, daughter Gloria Tanner, grandson Michael Harper, daughters-in-law Editha Aquias, Marylyn Gerardo, brothers Johnny and Wally Gandeza.
She is survived by her daughters Emma Aquias Iloreta, Evelyn (Catalino) Aranda, sons Leonardo Aquias, Frederick Aquias, Jerry (Mary) Aquias, Renante (Charie) Aquias, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, son-in-law Jimmy Iloreta, Ester Gandeza, brothers James, Joseph (Shelly), Jacob (Noreen) Gandeza, sisters Jessie (Norvin) Olivas, Florence Gandeza Tavares, Edna (Julio) Bolante, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave, Santa Rosa, California on Nov. 24, 2024, from 12 to 5 p.m.
Gerald ‘Jerry’ Joseph Smith
Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Smith has joined the choir eternal. He left us on Sept. 13, 2024, peacefully at his home in Kapaa. Born on April 12, 1937, in Toronto, he was a textile engineer and inventor with an expertise in formed fiber products. Some of his various patents include a felt used on tennis balls and cargo liners for vehicles.
He was preceded by his lovely wife Beverly Patricia Smith.
He is survived by his three children Rebecca, Jessica and John, his three grandchildren Anuhea, Leilani and Naia, and his three great-grandchildren Leleo, Nienna and Kilohoku.
There will be a celebration of life at Lydgate on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at 3 p.m. Please bring jokes, musical instruments and fond memories of Jerry to share.
