LIHUE — With the latest state unemployment rate hovering at about 3 percent, the state’s Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and the American Job Center Hawaii announced the 2024 Kauai Job Fair on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
This coincides with the start of the holiday season where seasonal employment opportunities become urgent as retailers make a bid for holiday dollars, and the visitor industry prepare for the surge of holiday travelers.
Competing factors include residents seeking ways to cope with the high inflation rates that have driven up prices of food, fuel, and housing.
According to Adele Manera of the Kauai Labor Department office, there are more than 60 major employers confirmed to be available in the three-hour job fair.
Employers offering opportunities include 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, Aloha Termite, CVS Health, the County of Kauai, Hawaii Pacific Health, Kauai Coffee, Kauai Air Conditioning, Hawaii Army National Guard, the state’s Department of Health and more.
As in previous job fairs that have been held at various parts of the island, there will be space for employment seekers to fill out applications, have questions answered and on-site employer interviews.
Manera encourages participants to come ready to be prepared to be hired. That includes being appropriately dressed, having access to resumes and being prepared to be interviewed for the wide range of employment opportunities that will be available.
