LIHUE — The Kauai Island Utility Cooperative announced that the deadline for a KIUC board candidate application or a petition requesting to be considered for a KIUC board candidate is Nov. 14.
All potential candidates must be a member of KIUC and must complete the Authority to Release Information Form, Prospective KIUC Board Candidate Application and sign Board Policy 18 – Board Member Qualifications and Eligibility. The forms may either be submitted online or printed and filled out.
The election information and forms can be found at the www.kiuc.coop/election website.
If an applicant wishes to have a nomination considered by the nominating committee, the completed forms must be received in the KIUC main office no later than Nov. 14. For a hard copy submission, the potential candidate application may either leave it in the drop box located outside the KIUC main office, or scan and email to info@kiuc.coop.
KIUC members may also run for the cooperative’s board by submitting a completed petition form, which includes the name, service address, phone and/or account number and signatures of at least 35 members. Potential petition candidates must also fill out Board Policy 18 and attend a board orientation.
Completed petitions and Board Policy 18 may be scanned and emailed to info@kiuc.coop or hard copy submissions can be left in the drop box at the KIUC office located at 4463 Pahee St. in Lihue no later than 4 p.m. on Dec. 30.
The Kauai Island Utility Cooperative 2025 Board of Directors election will be held on March 22, 2025. Each year, KIUC holds an election to fill three of nine director positions that carry a three-year term. The directors elected in the 2025 election will serve a term that expires in 2028.
