OMAO — The Kauai Ballet Academy welcomes 5K trail runners, high school runners and keiki to its 5K Trail Run and Keiki Trick-Or-Treat Run that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Omao Dirt Track starting at 8 a.m.
The 5K Trail Run that starts at 8 a.m. is “an exciting off-road course with spooky hills, creepy obstacles, and magnificent views of the South Shore of Kauai.”
“The course is no longer than 3.1 miles,” said Kauai Ballet Academy organizers. “The wearing of costumes is strongly encouraged. Feel free to run fast and try to win the race, but please understand the best prizes are awarded to the best costumes.”
Participants are encouraged to register early because just the first 100 trail runners to sign up are guaranteed a stylish event T-shirt.
Because the run course is especially suited to Kauai Interscholastic Federation cross-country, the Halloween 5K run is free for any KIF high school cross-country runner. For those runners who want the fun of an event T-shirt, registration fee is $20 or half the price of registration.
The Keiki Trick-Or-Treat Run starts at 9:30 a.m. for young kids between 0 to 12 years old. The Trick-Or-Treat Run is a short, easy off-road course with trick-or-treat stations throughout the course. All participants will receive a Halloween tote bag to haul their goodies.
“Just arrive in costume and run,” the organizers said.
The Halloween 5K Trail Run and Keiki Trick-Or-Treat Fun Run serve as a fundraiser to raise money for dance scholarships at the Kauai Ballet Academy.
Online registration, and more information, including classes and locations, on the Kauai Ballet Academy is available on its website at www.kauaiballetacademy.com.
