WAILUA — A visitor from the state of Washington was discovered unresponsive in the water off Wailua Beach last weekend.
Investigators with the Kaua’i Police Department (KPD) said that on Sunday, Sept 29, at approximately 5:15 a.m., first responders were dispatched to Wailua Beach after receiving calls regarding an unresponsive swimmer in the water.
The female swimmer was subsequently brought to shore by fishermen. Officials have only identified the woman as a visitor from Washington.
The incident is currently under investigation. No foul play is suspected. However, an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
