LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the days ahead, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday, Sept. 27, as the fall season enters its second week on the island of Kauai.
The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Friday, Oct. 4. All work is weather permitting.
Eleele
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for grass trimming, between mile post 0.81 to 0.67, in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road and Quarry Drive, on Monday, Sept. 30, and Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalaheo
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass trimming, between mile post 12 to 16, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kapaa
A single lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) is possible in either direction for road reconstruction and resurfacing as part of the Kuamoo Road Resurfacing project, between mile post 0 to 3.9, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Hawaiiana Road, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A full closure of Kapaa Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in the one-way southbound leg for road repair, between mile post 0 to .73, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Olohena Road on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kaumakani
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 18 to 22, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kekaha
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for replacement of culverts, between mile post 24.37 to 24.46, in the vicinity of Kikiaola Boat Harbor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Kokee
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for repaving work, between mile post 11.5 to 14, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Koloa
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass trimming, between mile post 9.5 to 11.5, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihue
A right lane closure on Rice Street (Route 51) is possible in the northbound direction for slope stabilization, in the vicinity of Royal Sonesta driveway entrance on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A lane shift to shoulder on Kapule Highway (Route 51) is possible in either direction for roadway striping, in the vicinity of Kaana Street and Rice Street, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for sign installations and striping, between mile post 0.78 to 2.5, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, beginning Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the southbound direction for grass trimming, between mile post 3 to 3.7, in the vicinity of Marine Camp Road, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Thursday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in the southbound direction for grass trimming, between mile post 1 to 2.5, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Thursday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for drain line and strom manhole installation, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
