PRINCEVILLE — The access gate to Queen’s Bath has been closed through the 2024-25 winter season in the interest of public safety.
The Ocean Safety Bureau announced on Wednesday, Sept. 25, the closure of the popular summertime tourist attraction on the North Shore.
“Access to the gate is closed due to hazardous ocean conditions and anticipation of the winter season,” said Ocean Safety Bureau Chief Kalani Vierra in a statement.
“We urge the public that entry in these hazardous conditions can result in injuries or drownings, and neglecting these warnings places our first responders’ lives unnecessarily at risk.”
Queen’s Bath is known as much for its beauty and splendor as its treachery, having been the location of multiple drownings through the years. Those drownings included three visitors, two women and a man, who were knocked off a ledge and swept out to sea in October 2008. Their bodies were later recovered in Hanalei.
