LIHUE — The fall roadwork season opens with a whole lot of clanking on the agenda, as crews take aim at a boatload of guardrail repair with a particular emphasis in Anahola, the Hawaii Department of Transportation said in a weekly update on Friday, Sept. 20.
The following is a list of projects on tap for the workweek ending Friday, Sept. 27. All work is weather permitting.
Anahola
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repair, between mile post 12 to 12.5, on Friday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repair, between mile post 13 to 13.5,in the vicinity of Kealia Road and Kukuihale Road on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repair, between mile post 14 to 14.5,in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road and Hokualele Road on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repair, between mile post 15 to 15.5,in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road and Papaa Road on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kalaheo
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 1.54 to 3.87, in the vicinity of Kaumualii Highway, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kapaa
A full closure of Kapaa Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in the one-way southbound leg for road repair, between mile post 0 to .73, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Olohena Road on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kapaia
A single lane closure on Maalo Road (Route 583) is possible in either direction for grass cutting and tree trimming, between mile post 3 to 3.5, on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
A single lane closure on Maalo Road (Route 583) is possible in either direction grass cutting and tree trimming, between mile post 3 to 3.5, on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Kekaha
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for replacement of culverts, between mile post 24.37 to 24.46, in the vicinity of Kikiaola Boat Harbor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Kilauea
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repair, between mile post 22 to 22.5,in the vicinity of Kaluamakua Place on Monday, Sept. 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kokee
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for repaving work, between mile post 11.5 to 14, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lawai
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass cutting and guardrail clearing, between mile post 10 to 14, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihue
A right lane closure on Rice Street (Route 51) is possible in the northbound direction for slope stabilization, between Hoolaulea Way and Mokoi Street, in the vicinity of Royal Sonesta driveway entrance, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for sign installations, between mile post 0.78 to 2.5, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, beginning Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the southbound direction for grass cutting, between mile post 3.5 to 4.5, in the vicinity of Kauai Beach Road and the Wailua Golf Course, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Nawiliwili
A right lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 58) is possible in either direction for tree trimming, between mile post 0.86 to 0.67, in the vicinity of Wilcox Road and Lala Road, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Papio Place, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for drain line and storm manhole installation, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Wailua Homesteads
A single lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) is possible in either direction for road reconstruction and resurfacing as part of the Kuamoo Road Resurfacing project, between mile post 0 to 3.9, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Hawaiiana Road, on Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
