Downtown Lihue Night Market Manager Lexi Jones presented funds derived from the recent 40th anniversary Kapena concert to representatives of the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life, Waimea Canyon Middle School PTSA, the Zonta Club of Kauai, Leadership Kauai, the Kapaa High School JROTC and Waimea High School Project Grad on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

The Waimea Alumni and Friends Foundation honored four Spirit Award recipients, including Sharon Leoiki, seated, Lisa Johnston, Aletha G. Kaohi, pictured, Joyce Evens, and Marilyn Hasegawa who accepted the posthumous award for Kaohi, during its annual luau at the Waimea High School on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024. The awardees were recognized for their respective contributions to Waimea High School and the community.

Congratulations to the representatives of the seven recipient organizations that received a portion of the proceeds from the recent 40th anniversary Kapena concert during the latest edition of Downtown Lihue Night Market, where several vendors were able to strike camp from the Line Dance fundraiser for the Kauai Veterans Center and set up on Kress Street. The groups shared about $9,000.
