LIHUE — People are invited to participate in the free household hazardous waste events this weekend.
LIHUE — People are invited to participate in the free household hazardous waste events this weekend.
The events kick off on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Hanapepe Base Yard at 4380 Lele Road and the Kapaa base yard at 4900 Kahau Road.
On Sunday, Sept. 22, the events continue at Anaina Hou Community Park at 5-2723 Kuhio Highway and Kauai Resource Center at 3460 Ahukini Road. All of the events will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.
Accepted items include automotive products, lead acid batteries, oil based paints, lawn and garden products, thinners and stains, fluorescent lights, batteries and more.
Items not accepted at the HHW collection events include: eWaste, propane tanks, medical waste, latex paint, tires, used motor oil, fireworks, ammunition and flares.
This event is for residents only. Businesses, government agencies nonprofits and farmers should not bring materials as they will be turned away.
