LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i veterans will be hosting a movie night on Friday at Kaua‘i Veterans Center.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the film starting at 6:15 p.m. said Bart Thomas, the adjutant of the Kaua‘i Veterans Council. The military museum located inside Kaua‘i Veterans Center will also be open.
The film showing is “Donovan’s Reef,” a 1963 “adventure comedy” film directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne and Lee Marvin. Primarily filmed on Kaua‘i, the film also included filming locations in Honolulu and other parts of the Hawaiian Islands.
Thomas said other events on the veterans calendar include a “big event” honoring Vietnam and Korean veterans on Nov. 2. Details will be forthcoming.
On Nov. 3, the Veterans Golf Tournament will be played at the Ocean Course at Hokuala with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Prior to the golf tournament starting, there will be a helicopter ball drop promoting the Salvation Army Red Kettle season. Red kettles will be used as targets for the drop.
