Patrick Steven Laysa
Patrick Steven Laysa, “BeeGee”, of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, passed away on May 24, 2024, on O‘ahu at the age of 73. He was born in the Territory of Hawai‘i on April 5, 1951. He was a retired mechanic contracted at PMRF.
He was preceded in death by parents Estanislao Laysa Sr. and Hanako Kaneshiro Laysa, siblings Estanislao Laysa Jr., Kenneth Kaneshiro, Charolette Evertsen, and Patsy Gapasen.
BeeGee is survived by his family of Kalaheo, wife Jayneen Vidinha Laysa, three daughters Jeslyn Laysa, Janessa (John) Lagazo, Jeryn Laysa, three grandchildren Kahuwai Laysa, Prestin Lagazo, and Tamara Lagazo.
He is also survived by siblings Gary Laysa, Lincoln (Robyn-Gail) Laysa, Wally (Jodie) Laysa, Janet Nishimura, Lily (Norb) Walke, Davida (Lewis) Heeder, brother-in-law Burt (Kuulei) Vidinha, sisters-in-law Erla Akana, Myong Suk Kaneshiro, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at the West Kaua‘i Enterprise Center located at 7694 Ulili Rd. Kekaha, HI 96752 (Kekaha Gardens/Hawaiian Homes). Visitation with services will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. The family suggests casual attire.
Nu‘uanu Memorial Park & Mortuary and Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family.
Rita Lottie-Ann De Silva
Rita Lottie-Ann De Silva, 76, passed away on July 17, 2024, in Lihu‘e. She was born on Nov. 28, 1947, in Hawai‘i. She worked at the Garden Island Newspaper for 37 years.
She was preceded in death by parents Fred and Mary Kenison, sons Alan and Shannon De Silva, daughter-in-law Yukie-Lynn De Silva, grandson Keanu Saito, brother Derek “Tag” Kenison, and nephew Damien Kenison.
She is survived by husband Wayne Gordon De Silva, sons Kevin (Julia), Travis (Lisa), grandchildren Moana (Chris) Baltazar, Gavin (Kacie) De Silva, Dustyn (Michaela) De Silva, Carlie (Paden) De Silva, Glen (Andrea) Gusman, Adam (Chazerae) Gusman, Gage (Braeshon) Gusman, Noah (Ne’keya) Gusman, Blaz (Annie) Gusman, Kyle Gusman, Haylie (Ikona) De Silva, great-grandchildren Cijay, Cyris, Christyn and Chloey Baltazar, Aria De Silva, brothers Damien (Glendora) Kenison of Kona, Fred (Chong) Kenison of O‘ahu, Glen Kenison of Hilo, nephews Wayne (Amy) Kenison, Derek (Carly Ann) Kenison, and Ikaika Kenison.
Rita passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her life of 58 years and her family by her side. Rita was an excellent writer and a lover of music. She enjoyed sharing her passion online with friends that she made around the world. She was loved not only by her family but by the community as well. She enjoyed spending her days surrounded by her family whom she loved so dearly. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews on the De Silva side and countless friends she has made over the years. She will be dearly missed.
Private service will be held at a later date.

Robert Agosto
Robert “Bobby” “Aggos” Agosto passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on June 19, 1948, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He graduated from Waimea High School and Kaua‘i Community College. He will be remembered for his loud contagious laugh.
He was a painter for James Nakagawa Painting, a mechanic, an avid deep-sea scuba diver, and a fisherman with a passion for martial arts.
He was preceded in death by father Fortunato Agosto Sr., grandfather Juan Rapada and brother Fortunato “Foto” Agosto Jr.
He is survived by son Robert “Shilum” Agosto of Kekaha, daughter Shayla Agosto of Seattle, Washington, mother Loretta Rapada Agosto, two grandchildren, brothers Ben (Anna) Agosto of Waipahu, O‘ahu, Brandon Agosto of Kalaheo, sisters Kathryn “Kathy” (Dennis) Yamamoto of Mililani, O‘ahu, Elizabeth “Liz” (George) Kawamura of Kalaheo, Jane (Rodney) Williams of Seattle, Washington, Lorna (Tommy) Takayama of Mililani, O‘ahu, Lesley (Michael) Castillo of Kapalua, Maui, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation begins at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 2:45 p.m.

Presentacion ‘Connie’ Navales Maglasang
Presentacion “Connie” Navales Maglasang, 90, of Koloa, passed away at home in Koloa on July 18, 2024. She was born in Koloa on Nov. 21, 1933.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Loretto “Charlie” Navales, second husband Edward Maglasang, and son Les Navales.
She is survived by sons Michael (Joan) Navales, Wendall “Pope” Navales, daughters Charlene (Chris) Gammerino, Lori (Shui) Navales, hanai daughter LaFrance Bergonia, grandchildren Nicholas “Kali” Navales, Michelle Tupou, Charles Nelson, Allen Meafua, Adam Meafua, Anthony Gammerino, Wailana Blackstad, hanai granddaughters Jemme Haupt, Kaisha, sister Helena Balalong, numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens, 4716 Maalo Rd, Lihue, near Kapaia, Hawai‘i. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by services from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will take place on Aug. 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Reef R. K. Oana
Reef R. K. Oana, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away on July 4, 2024, in Kekaha at the age of 44. He was born on Feb. 28, 1980, in Lihu‘e.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Manuel and Nora Amorin, maternal grandparents Rossiter R. K. Oana Sr. and Marjorie Oana, grandmother Florintina Sadomiano, uncle Kaleo Oana and brother Doon Sadomiano.
He is survived by sons Zion Ramirez-Oana, Chay Ramirez, daughter Keahi Tupou, parents Danny and Raenette Sadomiano, grandmother Victoria Navarro Oana, brothers Aaron (Latoya) Oana, Keoni Sadomiano, Gavin Sadomiano, sister Shantal Lopes, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at Hanama‘ulu Beach Park pavilion. Services begin at 11 a.m., followed by the scattering of ashes. The family requests casual attire.

Kaleo Ho‘okano
Kaleo Ho‘okano, of Waimea, passed away on June 26, 2024, in Waimea at the age of 74. He was born on Sept. 21, 1949, in Waimea. He was an ocean safety supervisor and a legendary waterman.
He was preceded in death by wife Rae Ho‘okano and parents James and Aloha Ho‘okano.
He is survived by son Gad (Chantel) Ho‘okano of Hanapepe, daughters Sanoe (Dennis) Ho‘okano of Oma‘o, Sui (Matt) Ho‘okano of Waimea, grandchildren Lokela Palama, Kekai Palama, Liv Jacintho, Hiu‘a Palama, Nalu Ho‘okano, Nawea Ho‘okano, brother Dean (Debbie) Ho‘okano of Kekaha, sisters Pauline Kupo of Kekaha, Odetta (Joe) Borja of Kekaha, Pi‘ilani Aguon of Kekaha, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service will be held at the Lawa‘i Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church on Aug. 16, 2024. Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by service at 10 a.m.
Burial will be held at a later date. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
