KOLOA — The Friends of the Public Library will debut the Koloa Public Library Used Book Sale on Tuesday as part of the weeklong Koloa Plantation Days festivities.
KOLOA — The Friends of the Public Library will debut the Koloa Public Library Used Book Sale on Tuesday as part of the weeklong Koloa Plantation Days festivities.
The book sale will be held in conjunction with the Celebrate Summer Reading program that was announced by Koloa Public Library Branch Manager Stephanie Ibbs.
The summer reading programs start on Monday at 3 p.m with Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Haku. Call Koloa Public Library at 808-742-8455 for registration and information.
On July 23, ‘Aina Pigments with the Garden Island Arts Council will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and on July 24, “Kid Kine Talk Story” with Jeff Gere will happen at 2 p.m.
The five-part program wraps up on July 25 with Marble Run Madness starting at 1 p.m., and the Year of the Forest Birds presented by the state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife taking place at 10 a.m.
The Friends Used Book Sale takes place from July 23-25. Friends of Koloa Public Library President Cheryl Shintani urges everyone to “find their treasures for very low prices.”
“The books look practically new,” Shintani said. “DVDs and CDs — thousands to choose from — are 10 for a dollar. There are items free for the taking, and on any purchase, take a DVD or CD for free.”
She said the Hawaiiana and Oceania collection is large; children’s books are plentiful as are cookbooks.
The Used Book Sales runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 23 and 25, and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 24.
