LIHU‘E — When Tisha Remigio and Michelle Panoke were installed as president and vice president, respectively, of the Kaua‘i Lions Club, the pair of ladies made Lions history.
“For the firt time ever, we are proud and excited to have a slate of all-female officers leading our club,” said Debra Thompson, the Kaua‘i Lions Club Board marketing chair.
“The club’s president is Tisha Remigio, vice president is Michelle Panoke, secretary is Muriah Moises and treasurer is Dawnie Balagat. This is especially impressive given that women were not allowed into Lions Clubs until 1987. For 70 years prior to 1987, women were banned from the formerly exclusive all-male club.”
The Kaua‘i Lions Club was chartered in 2016 and is currently in its eighth year of service to the Kaua‘i community.
