Brenda Turville Biehler of Showtime Characters did a first on Wednesday night when she brought Buzz Lightyear (Brenda said he’s one of the kids’ favorite because he can fly!) along with Bart Thomas to the Lihu‘e Airport to greet Wounded Warrior Bryant Lamphier’s family, who will be enjoying Kaua‘i for two weeks, including a Spa Day for Natalie Lamphier at the Koloa Landing Resort.
Lola Cruz, Veronica Carillo and Maura Sabato of the Kekaha Senior Centers enjoyed a first time vending at the Kekaha Family Fun (what time did you get to bed after the America’s Most West Freedom Fest, Dennis Eguchi?) where Bev Brody (love that “USEH” shirt!) had to get up at 3 a.m. to set up Play Streets … Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami had guts to let all those skateboarders and sole roller skater get air over him.
Brenda said it was worthwhile to drive out to Kekaha for the food like the West Kaua‘i Methodist Church malasadas (pronto pups, too), and mahalo to Larry Manuel for the plantation days-style pickled mango and mango seed (anyone’s jaws hurting, yet?), and hopefully Gina’s still had steak when Melissa McFerrin Warrack was ready to head home.
