LIHU‘E — The summer road improvement season is in full swing with lane closures in place from Waimea to Hanalei, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of projects for the workweek ending June 28. All work is weather permitting.
Kalaheo
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass cutting and guardrail clearing, between mile post 12.26 and 15.90, in the vicinity of Halewili Road and Waialo Road, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalihiwai
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for highway reconstruction, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road and Ka Haku Road, through Friday, June 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kapaia
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, in the vicinity of Ma‘alo Road, on Monday, June 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Koke‘e
An alternating single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for construction of fire breaks, between mile post 1 and 5, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for road widening and paving, between mile post 11.5 and 14, on Sunday, June 23 through Friday, June 28, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lawai
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for tree trimming, in the vicinity of Akemana Road and Koloa Road, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lihu‘e
A right lane closure on Rice Street (Route 51) is possible in the northbound direction for slope stabilization in the vicinity of Royal Sonesta, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kapule Highway (Route 51) is possible in either direction for tree trimming, in the vicinity of Ka‘ana Street and Ahukini Road, on Monday, June 24, and Tuesday, June 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for striping and sign installations, in the vicinity of Kuene Road and Kapule Highway, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 4 and 5, in the vicinity of Kaua‘i Beach Road and Leho Drive fronting Wailua Golf Course, on Tuesday, June 25, and Wednesday, June 26. from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Moloa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 21 and 25, in the vicinity of Waiakalua Street, on Monday, June 24, through Thursday, June 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Nawiliwili
A right lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 58) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 0 and 1, in the vicinity of of Waapa Road and Apapane Street, on Thursday, June 27, through Friday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for installation of soil anchors at the bottom of Hanalei Hill, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternating traffic will be allowed through the open lane.
Puhi
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass cutting and guardrail clearing, in the vicinity of Puhi Road and Maluhia Road, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wailua
A right lane closure of Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 560) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 1 to 2.5, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Olohena Road, on Monday, June 24, through Thursday, June 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A left lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the northbound direction for work on the Wailua River Bridge repair project, between mile post 5.60 and 5.96, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kuamo‘o Road, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
