Michael Manzano Abigania
Michael Manzano Abigania, of Mission Viejo, California, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, on June 8, 1952.
Michael is survived by his wife, Arminda Pascual Abigania; daughters, Sherry (Franklin Jr.) Matthews, Michelle (Victor) Abigania-Libunao, Melany (Eric) Abigania-Chun; grandchildren, Makana, Kainani Libunao, Malia, Micah, Jacob, Jade Matthews; brothers, Louis (Edith) Abigania, Robert (Doris) Abigania, Richard (Tess) Abigania, Glenn (Sharon) Abigania, Reynold Abigania; sisters, Nancy Abigania, Vicky Abigania, Christine (Bernard Sr.) Mabini, Alice (Reggie) Hunt, and Brenda (Ho-Tai) Zerba.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Rufo and Mary Abigania and sister Cynthia Dela Cruz.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 8, at St. John’s Episcopal Church located in ‘Ele‘ele, at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested.
Emily Ortiz Artaho
It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Ortiz Artaho announces her passing at the age of 91. She was a devout born-again Christian who spent a lot of time in prayer and reading her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband Anastacio (known as Ralph) Artaho, daughters Rhonda Marie and Janell Ululani Artaho, parents Patricio Ortiz and Carmela (known as Carmen) Rodrigues Ortiz, siblings George Nicolas Ortiz and Carmen Rivera.
Emily is survived by her daughters Donna Higa, Enola Gay Artaho, Priscilla (Ralph) Yawata, Patrice (Randy) Silva, Ingrid (Latham) Keaweamahi and her only son, Ralph (Sandi) Artaho II. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces, and nephews.
Celebration of Life is on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa. Visitation at 10 a.m. with a Christian Service celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe.

Patrick Joseph Delos Reyes Sr.
Patrick Joseph Delos Reyes Sr., of Hanama‘ulu, passed away on May 3, 2024, at 59.
He was a self-employed concrete mason, born in Lihu‘e, Hawai‘i, on May 9, 1964.
Patrick was preceded in passing by his parents Eugenio and Catalina Delos Reyes and sister Linda Ann Delos Reyes-Olores.
Patrick is survived by his loving family: his children Patrick Delos Reyes Jr., Cristy-Lee Tamashiro-Delos Reyes, Lance (Alyssa-Lynn) Delos Reyes, Kasen Delos Reyes, grandchildren Fredrico, Kainoa, Kaikea, Aubree, siblings Eugene (Grace) Delos Reyes, Paul (Imelda) Delos Reyes, Rosey Delos Reyes, Cindy Delos Reyes, John (Richard Velazquez) Delos Reyes, brother-in-law Jonathan Olores, many loving and caring aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Private services will be held by family and friends.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Mary Ann Akana Bender
Mary Ann Akana Bender passed away peacefully at home in Keapana on May 22, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on Sept. 26, 1932, in Waimea, Kaua‘i.
She was a “people person” and a great listener, a proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools Class of 1950; a sports fan, especially of the ‘Bows. She loved her family and friends and prayed for many.
She loved our Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Bender, sons Kimo and Shane, parents Nicholas and Tillie Perreira Akana, siblings Adam, James and Katherine.
She is survived by her son Mark (TJ Love) of Texas, daughter Donna Kuulei (Roy) Ho of Keapana, grandchildren Guy (Jona) Ho, James (Monique) Bender, Kekoa Bender, Ryan (Tina) Ho, Sean (Anne) Ho, great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Gavin, Kaiolohia, James, Charlton, Zoey, Sophia, Ayla, Jacob, Hadley, Ashton, Ethan, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. The family requests flowers be omitted and graciously declines monetary gifts (koden). If you wish, a donation to the church or your favorite charity is maika‘i.
