Apologies to Patricia Mihara and Ikito Muraoka for not acknowledging that Mr. Muraoka, Patricia’s father, is the oldest living veteran on Kaua‘i. Mr. Muraoka is a 442nd RCT veteran and at 102 years old. He lives in Lihu‘e.

Happy birthday to Larry Feinstein, of the Kaua‘i Beer Company, whose special day was announced on the radio, Wednesday. Larry is excited to announce the return of Truck Stop Thursday on June 6 with Da Wonton Shack (the Pacanas connection at the Kaua‘i Veterans Council Memorial Day Service) and Kickshaws (weren’t they one of the original Truck Stop Thursday participants?) … definitely worth stopping by for a late afternoon snack, or even dinner.
Greg Williams of the West Kaua‘i Episcopal Churches said farmers Pablo and Sally Valdez developed those ono-looking tomatoes being sold at Pau Hana Market on the westside.
The tomatoes were being sold at the Pau Hana Market to benefit the church’s Children Choir (hope you didn’t miss their unique olelo Hawai‘i Christmas presentation last holiday season).
OK, this is another bang-bang weekend with the Kaua‘i Pride Parade and Festival waking up Lihu‘e town at 9 a.m. and Grove Farm Market’s horn sounding at 9:30 a.m.
This is the weekend Grove Farm brings in the craft fair component of the market, and the Master Gardeners will be hosting Basilio “Coach Bunga” Fuertes for some talk-story about home gardening.
