HANAPEPE — Retired Air Force General Mary Kay Hertog, commander of the Kaua‘i Veterans Council, reminds everyone that the annual Kaua‘i Veterans Council Memorial Day Service will take place on Monday at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery starting at 10 a.m.
Groups and individuals wishing to contribute lei to decorate the graves at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery can drop off the lei at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e on Friday, Hertog said.
The Kaua‘i Veterans Council hosts observances for most of the major military observances, including Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Monday is also a government holiday. The County of Kaua‘i offices will be closed along with all neighborhood centers, all refuse transfer stations, Kekaha Landfill, Puhi Metals Recycling Center and all HI5 redemption centers.
The schedule for residential refuse pick up will not be affected, and The Kaua‘i Bus will be operating on its current daily schedule.
