LIHU‘E — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the coming week with work set to take place from Waimea to Princeville, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of scheduled projects for the workweek ending May 24. All work is weather permitting.
Kalaheo
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for roadway striping, between mile post 10.73 and 11.06, in the vicinity of Kuli Road and Lauoho Road, through Friday, May 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic be alternated through the open lane. Expect delays.
Kalihiwai
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for highway reconstruction, between Kahiliholo Road and Ka Haku Road, through Friday, May 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kaumakani
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for construction of fire breaks, between mile post 18.5 and 21, in the vicinity of Kaumakani Road, on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kealia
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for cold planing and paving, between Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road through Friday, May 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Koke‘e
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for road widening and paving, between mile post 11.5 and 14, through Friday, May 24, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Moloa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 17 and 21, on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Nawiliwili
A right lane closure on Wa‘apa Road (Route 51) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, in the vicinity of Mokoi Street and Kalapaki Road, on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 58) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, in the vicinity of Waapa Road and Lala Road, on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for debris removal and hauling of slope material, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, from Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Traffic will be alternated through the open lane.
Wailua
A single lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) is possible until further notice for roadway restoration and waterline installation in the vicinity of the Opaeka‘a Falls lookout, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Two-way traffic is controlled by flaggers or temporary traffic signals.
A full closure on Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in both directions for bridge inspection, between mile post 0.77 to 3.06, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Olohena Road, on Wednesday, May 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Local traffic will be allowed to access property, all other traffic must use Kuhio Highway.
A right lane closure on Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post .76 to 1.5, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Waimea
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for shoulder grading, between mile post 23.32 and 25.1, in the vicinity of Coconut Grove and Elepaio Road, on Monday, May 20, through Friday, May 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wapouli
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for asphalt reconstruction and resurfacing, between mile post 8.11 and 9.78, in the vicinity of Akia Road and Mailihuna Road on Tuesday, May 21, through Friday, May 24, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
