WAIMEA — The Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) Auxiliary and Hawai‘i Emergency Physicians Association teamed to distribute $15,000 in scholarships for students who will continue their education in health care and other areas of study. The students were honored at a scholarship reception at the Waimea Chicken in A Barrel.
WAIMEA — The Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) Auxiliary and Hawai‘i Emergency Physicians Association teamed to distribute $15,000 in scholarships for students who will continue their education in health care and other areas of study. The students were honored at a scholarship reception at the Waimea Chicken in A Barrel.
Six scholars were selected to receive $1,500 scholarships apiece from the KVMH Auxiliary, which was represented by KVMH Auxiliary President Charlene Dorsey and KVMH Vice President Steve Kline, who is also Chair of the Scholarship Committee.
Students Nicole Perpose and Sophia Badua are both planning on attending the University of Portland, and Richard Palacio will be attending the Riverland Community College.
Skylynn Ripley will be attending Pacific University. Cha’Leiah Lancaster Fabrio will be attending the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo and Ariel Wayne Damo will be enrolling in the Kaua‘i Community College.
Dr. Luke Metzker represented the Hawai‘i Emergency Physicians Association, which presented two $3,000 scholarships. Martian Binonwagan Jr. represented the student from the eastside and Benedict Uri represented the student from West Kaua‘i.
