KALALAU — A 39-year-old O’ahu resident was rescued on the Kalalau Trail after suffering an ankle injury on Tuesday afternoon.
KALALAU — A 39-year-old O’ahu resident was rescued on the Kalalau Trail after suffering an ankle injury on Tuesday afternoon.
Kaua’i Fire Department (KFD) personnel with the Hanalei Fire Station responded to the incident and reported that the department received the 911 call at approximately 11:30 a.m. of an injured hiker near Kalalau Beach in need of assistance.
Rescue 3 onboard Air 1 arrived at the Kalalau Beach scene where they made contact with the hiker, who had an apparent ankle injury.
The man was packaged and transported to the Princeville Airport where personnel with the Hanalei Fire Station and the American Medical Response team waited on his arrival and continued treatment on him before transporting him to Wilcox Medical Center in Lihu‘e.
The scene was cleared before 1:50 p.m.
