Earth Day is more than removing debris at PMRF

A total of 112 students from four schools and community partners visited Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands, on Friday, April 26, 2024. They posed for a group photo with PMRF personnel during PMRF’s Earth Day Celebration, where more than 208 pounds of debris was removed from the beach area at Waiokapua Bay.

Students visited Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands, on Friday, April 26, 2024, and watched a demonstration of Sweep, a bird-hazing dog, following commands during PMRF’s Earth Day Celebration. Sweep is part of PMRF’s interagency agreement with the United States Department of Agriculture to manage encroachment of birds in hazardous areas on PMRF.

MANA — Pacific Missile Range Facility’s MC2 Bodie Estep reported that more than 208 pounds of trash was removed from the Waiokapua Bay, currently known as Majors Bay, beach area on Friday as an Earth Day activity.
