LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation tennis teams made up matches from April 11 when heavy rainfall forced postponements due to unplayable conditions.
On Tuesday, the Waimea High School teams traveled to Kapa‘a High School with the Warrior boys prevailing 3-2 over the Menehune and the Lady Warriors handing Waimea a 4-1 loss.
Wednesday contests saw Island School visit the Kaua‘i High School tennis courts that escaped storm damage due to the work done by the Kaua‘i High School coaching staff and player parents that prevented the runoff mud from hitting the red play areas.
“Our Raider boys need to win a greater number of their matches to secure the KIF title,” said Jennifer Hreljack, the Kaua‘i High School coach. “Our girls took the KIF title, earlier in the season.”
The KIF boys title is still elusive for the Kaua‘i boys, who ended with a 3-2 loss to the Voyagers.
The Kaua‘i High School girls finished with a 4-1 win over Island School Voyagers.
Saturday is the final KIF regular season tennis matches before the state qualifying matches take place on April 25-26.
Kaua‘i High School will visit Waimea High School and the Voyagers will visit Kapa‘a High School. Both locations will have matches starting at 9 a.m.
