Kent Kimo Bender
Kent Kimo Bender passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2023, at his home on the Big Island at the age of 68. He was born on Nov. 19, 1955, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by father James Bender, brother Shane Bender, maternal grandparents Nick and Tillie Akana and paternal grandparents Veris and Julia Bender.
He is survived by his mother Mary Ann Akana Bender, son Kekoa Bender, brother Mark Bender (TJ Love), sister Donna Kuulei Ho (Roy), nephews and cousins and their families.
Kimo was an affable, carefree man, and a lifelong skilled woodcarver.
Private inurnment.

Eric Andrew Corn
Eric Andrew Corn passed away on March 4, 2024, in Calgary, Canada, at the age of 59. He was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on May 12, 1964.
Eric is survived by his wife Sunny Gail Mitsui of Kapa‘a, daughter Amber (Tyler) Smith of Stirling, Canada, son Kyle (Jennie) Taylor of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, six grandchildren, sister-in-law Joy (Ken) Au of O‘ahu and mother-in-law Helen Mitsui of Kilauea.
He worked at the Pacific Missile Range at Barking Sands as a Range Operations Program Manager and Operations Conductor and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, at the Kilauea Episcopal Christ Memorial Church at 11 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested. The family asks that flowers be omitted.
Michael Wayne Kiyabu
Michael Wayne Kiyabu, 76, passed away on Nov. 29, 2023, in Kapa‘a. He was born on May 9, 1947, in Hawai‘i. He was in the U.S. Navy and a retired Kaua‘i Police Officer.
He was preceded in death by mother Hatsuko Kiyabu, aunts Rita S. Kiyabu and Theresa Braun.
He is survived by wife Lori R. Kiyabu, son Michael K.G. Kiyabu (Michael Haritos), daughters Lori G.K. (Glen) Balisacan, Kristy Sasachika (Chance Kinney), stepdaughter Liana (Randall) Koerte, sister Teri Kaluahine, brothers Larry Fernandez, Eddie Fernandez, grandchildren Norven Balisacan, Kingston Kinney, Roman Kinney, Royal Kinney, Kannon Kinney, beloved pets Orion, Kitty, Tang, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e. Visitation starts at 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Lunch provided at 11 a.m. The family requests that you wear NFL attire to support your favorite NFL team.

Patricia Gail Shaddock
Patricia Gail Shaddock passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Waimea, Kaua‘i at the age of 74 years old. She was born on Sept. 17, 1949, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a court reporter for the Arkansas Judiciary System.
She was preceded in death by son Wesley Young West, mother Ethel Lois Shaddock and father Godfrey S. Shaddock.
She is survived by son Dupree West of Portland, Oregon, daughters Rashida Molett-West of Portland, Oregon, Natasha Molett of Portland, Oregon, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brothers Donald E. Shaddock of Memphis, Tennessee, Gerald V. Shaddock of Waimea, Kaua‘i, Roy Shaddock of Mered, California, sister Phyllis Richards of Waimea, Kaua‘i, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Waimea Baptist Church in Waimea, Kaua‘i, located at 9625 Kaumuali‘i Hwy. Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m. followed by services at 3 p.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Edmund F. Ku Malama Sr., age 81, of Kekaha, Kaua‘,i died in Hospice Care in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, on Feb. 17, 2024. He was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, worked for Iron Workers Union and owned Ed’s Welding.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Albarado Malama, son Edmund Malama Jr., parents Joseph Ku, Lucille Malama, sisters Elaine Parker, Bluebell Kaowili, Alma Nerez, Barbara Westerdale, Florence Ilae, Abigail Estacio, brothers Joseph Malama Jr., Vernon Malama, Llewellyn Malama and PaddyBoy Malama.

Florentino Salvador, Sr.
Florentino Salvador, Sr., of Kilauea, passed away on Feb. 21, 2024, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 91. He was born on Nov. 24, 1932, in Hanalei. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a plant seed operator of Lihu‘e Plantation.
He was preceded in death by father Hilario Salvador, mother Irene Salvador, son Neil Salvador, brothers William, Bonafacio and Nicholas Salvador.
He is survived by wife Eliza Salvador of Kilauea, son Florentino Salvador, Jr. of Kilauea, daughters Janet (Bart) Ovalles of Kilauea, Peggy (Eddie Espina) Salvador of Kilauea, grandchildren Preston and Ryan Ovalles, Tyler Shimauchi, Kevin Salvador, Ashley Espina, Austin Salvador, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Kilauea St. Sylvester. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Wiley Kaipolani Junjiro Bernard Yoshioka
Wiley Kaipolani Junjiro Bernard Yoshioka, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the age of 32 years old. He was born on Nov. 28, 1991. He was a lead pipe fitter for the County of Kaua‘i, Department of Water.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Jitsuo and Theresa Yoshioka and Bernard and Violet Almarza.
He is survived by parents Darin “Ipo” and Sandra Yoshioka of Lihu‘e, brothers Micah Yoshioka of Lihu‘e, Hunter Yoshioka of Lihu‘e, Kobi Yoshioka of Lihu‘e, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 11:30 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
