Edmund F. Ku Malama Sr.
Edmund F. Ku Malama Sr., age 81, of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, died in Hospice Care in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, on Feb. 17, 2024. He was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, worked for Iron Workers Union and owned Ed’s Welding.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Albarado Malama, son Edmund Malama Jr., parents Joseph Ku, Lucille Malama, sisters Elaine Parker, Bluebell Kaowili, Alma Nerez, Barbara Westerdale, Florence Ilae, Abigail Estacio, brothers Joseph Malama Jr., Vernon Malama, Llewellyn Malama and PaddyBoy Malama.
Survived by Moopuna Roslyn (Jesse) Cummings of Kalaheo, Brandon (Karen Gray) Malama of ‘Ele‘ele, Shandiin (Chad) Valmoja of Kalaheo, Kaliko Waahila of Phoenix, Arizona, Moopuna nui Jaidalyn, Ryder, Madison, Hunter, Maddox, Noah, Luke Cummings, Kyla, Brynn, Kenna, Brody Malama, Kenzie, Kaizely, Kaizen, Kyler Valmoja, brother Billy (Leona) Malama of Oregon, sisters-in-law Pinky Malama of Kekaha, Joyce (Danny) Tomas of Lihu‘e, Lorraine Albarado of O‘ahu, brother-in-law Jerry (Ellen) Albarado of Hanapepe, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services on April 6, 2024, at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon and scattering at Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor, located at 8932 Kekaha Road in Kekaha.
Kent Kimo Bender
Kent Kimo Bender passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2023, at his home on the Big Island at the age of 68. He was born on Nov. 19, 1955, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by father James Bender, brother Shane Bender, maternal grandparents Nick and Tillie Akana and paternal grandparents Veris and Julia Bender.
He is survived by his mother Mary Ann Akana Bender, son Kekoa Bender, brother Mark Bender (TJ Love), sister Donna Kuulei Ho (Roy), nephews and cousins and their families.
Kimo was an affable, carefree man, and a lifelong skilled woodcarver.
Private inurnment.
Dodo Mortuary West Hawai‘i assisted the family, and were very helpful with arrangements.
Eric Andrew Corn
Eric Andrew Corn passed away on March 4, 2024, in Calgary, Canada at the age of 59. He was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on May 12, 1964.
Eric is survived by his wife Sunny Gail Mitsui of Kapa‘a, daughter Amber (Tyler) Smith of Stirling, Canada, son Kyle (Jennie) Taylor of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, six grandchildren, sister-in-law Joy (Ken) Au of O‘ahu, and mother-in-law Helen Mitsui of Kilauea.
He worked at the Pacific Missile Range at Barking Sands as a Range Operations Program Manager and Operations Conductor and was a veteran of the US Navy.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, at the Kilauea Episcopal Christ Memorial Church at 11 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested. The family asks that flowers be omitted.
