Congratulations to Keegan Meade, who got his first ‘ukulele by winning the on-street ‘ukulele contest hosted by Aldrinne Guerrero and ‘Ukulele Underground on Saturday night during the monthly Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market that was an alternative activity for all those people who were scared away by the event taking place at the Kaua‘i Philippines Cultural Center.

Lexie Jones, the market manager, and Dr. Addison Bulosan were thrilled with the more than 35 vendors (including Helena Camat of Gourmet Pretzels, who shared her tent with Tiki and the Kaua‘i Aloha Pet next door to Lickety Louie that drew a crowd of pet fans.
This could’ve been a Kaua‘i High School marketplace as Kevin Cadiente (he’s one of the school’s athletic trainers) was joined by Maryanne Donagher (Kaua‘i High School will host its art exhibit at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery in April!) and Carla Kirk (Kaua‘i Performing Arts Center), and KHS Wrestling Coach Julian Sadano was joined by Tamera with their Coral Cove cookie offerings.
Stan’s Kaua‘i Style Flying Saucers and Hamura Saimin (Sea Capt. Jolene Spence said the Garden Island Trollers will have its annual Father’s Day Fishing Tournament, again!) had the bon dance style lines for orders of flying saucers and andagi, and Bryden Ka‘auwai (no, he had to be in Hanalei for the Boys and Girls Club golf tournament on Sunday) had the Ho‘ola Lahui Fitness Group with Alan Villaflor drawing people to the mobile clinic (Ho‘ola Lahui has another one coming in April?).
