George Francis Rapozo
George Francis Rapozo, of Kapa‘a, passed away at his home on Feb. 13, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Kawaihau on May 18, 1938, and served in the U.S. Navy for five years before becoming a heavy equipment operator for Good Fellows.
He was preceded in passing by parents John and Helen Rapozo and stepson Brando Wattson.
George is survived by wife Lani Rapozo, children Titus Rapozo, Keoki (Kourtni) Rapozo, Kaula Wattson and five grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation begins at 10 a.m., a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., and burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Thomas ‘Allen’ O’Brien
Thomas “Allen” O’Brien, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Feb. 29, 2024, at the age of 93. Allen was born in Butte, Montana, on Dec. 29, 1930, and worked as a grade setter for Operating Engineers.
He was preceded in passing by parents Thomas and Marie O’Brien and sister Marilyn.
Allen is survived by daughter Dorothy Marie O’Brien and sister Terry Kemmitt.
Private services will be held by the family.

Rochelle K. Barretto
Rochelle K. Barretto, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Feb. 23, 2024, at the age of 52. She was born on Nov. 16, 1971, in Lihu‘e. She worked as an Archaeologist on Maui.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Joseph F. and Lorinda Barretto and maternal grandfather Bernardino Balmidiano.
She is survived by parents Robert and Norma Balmidiano, brothers Garrick Barretto of Texas, Brandon Barretto of California, maternal grandmother Remy Balmidiano, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private service was held.

Dorna Elva Leimamo Hung Chun Apana Ginden Mahelona
Dorna Elva Leimamo Hung Chun Apana Ginden Mahelona, 82, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Jan. 12, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on March 23, 1941, in Kapa‘a, Hawai‘i. She was a retired residential.
Preceded in death by father Ernest Apana, mother Christina Apao Apana, sisters Carolyn Apana, Shirlet and Donald Miike, Lynette Niau, Lovey Apana and son Kurt Mahelona.
She is survived by husband Justin Mahelona, siblings Beverly Muraoka (late Ernest), Russell Apana (Lori), Diane Ohata-Sims (late Roger), J. Puanani Howell, daughters Christal Vierra (Michael), Darlene Rufino (Robin), Tammy Ginden, Kaiao Mahelona Fox, Ailina Mahelona (daughter-in-law), sons Sterling Ginden, Joshua Mahelona, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties and uncles.
A service is Saturday, March 23, 2024, at LDS Church — Anthem Hills Stake Center Chapel 875 Rich Perez Jr Dr. Henderson, Nevada, 89052. Viewing begins at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m.
A celebration of life is from 2 to 7 p.m. at Oasis RV Park Ballroom 2711 W Windmill Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89123.

Robert Wells Butler, Jr.
Robert Wells Butler, Jr., of Kilauea, passed away at home on Feb. 16, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on Dec. 24, 1947, in Santa Monica, California. He was a general contractor.
He was preceded in death by parents Robert Wells Butler, Sr., Marjorie Butler and brother Jeffrey Butler.
He is survived by wife Kathleen Butler, sons Benjamin Butler (Jennifer Randall) of Kilauea, Bryan Butler (Michael) of San Francisco, daughter Aimee Butler (Chad) Fahlbusch of Manhattan Beach, three grandchildren and sister Barbara Butler of New Jersey.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Waipa beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make your donation to Kaua‘i Hospice or Waipa Foundation. The family suggests aloha attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Godfrey Gonsalves Perreira Sr.
Godfrey Gonsalves Perreira Sr., 74, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away in Lihu‘e on Feb. 9, 2024. He was born in Lihu‘e on Sept. 12, 1949, and was a truck driver with Kaua‘i Freight Services.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Adeline Perreira Sr., siblings Joseph Jr., Roseline, Wayne Sr., Brenda and Richard Sr.
He is survived by his sister Adeline (Angie), children Marilyn, Godfrey Jr., Renee, Tina, Liza, Aaron, Delia, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held on Thursday, Feb. 29 at Immaculate Conception Church and burial held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Richard Hiromu Sugawa
Richard Hiromu Sugawa, of Lawa‘i, passed away on Feb. 22, 2024, at Kaua‘i Care Center at the age of 93. He was born on Dec. 4, 1930, in Koloa. He was a retired Building Maintenance Worker for the State of Hawai‘i, DAGS Department.
He was preceded in death by parents Rikizo and Hanayo Sugawa, brothers Ben Sugawa, George Sugawa, Albert Sugawa, sisters Elsie Monis, Lily Miram and Dollie Brierley.
He is survived by daughters Colleen (Alfred) Coyaso of Lawa‘i, Valerie (Russell) Coyaso of Kalaheo, Melanie Kalauawa of Kalaheo, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will be held at a later date.

Geronimo Bartolome Gonzales
Geronimo Bartolome Gonzales, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 13, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Sept. 30, 1931. He was a laborer for McBryde Sugar Plantation, Kaua‘i Coffee, Dekalb, Monsanto and Pioneer Corn.
He was preceded in death by parents Donato and Anselma Gonzales and sister Feliza Gonzales.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Felipa Tongson Gonzales, children Lorna (Greg) Cerny, Zenaida (Peter) Tausend, Cornelia (Daniel) Works, Mercedes (Fredulin) Casticimo, Andy (Jane) Gonzales, Maria (Mark) Marsh, Lovelyn (Greg) Andres, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. and burial to follow.
