Greg Naganuma
Greg Naganuma passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, in Portland, Oregon, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was born on July 24,1950 in Lihu‘e, Hawai‘i. Greg’s dental practice, Great Smiles Dental, served the Kaua‘i community for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Namiko Naganuma.
He is survived by his wife Joann Naganuma, children Darcy Naganuma (Jeffrey Fletcher), Tracie Young (Jeffrey Young, sons Ayden & Charlie), Chad Naganuma (Melissa Naganuma, sons Matthew & Thomas), sisters Jill Gushiken (Ralph Gushiken), Nami Ann Yoshikawa (Tad Yoshikawa), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Greg was a dedicated father, grandfather and a loving husband to his wife of 46 years. His most joyful moments were those spent with his ‘ohana. He enjoyed bringing family together – planning themed holiday gatherings, unforgettable camping trips and beloved traditions – creating long-lasting memories his family holds near to their hearts. He was an avid fisherman, hiker and talented photographer. Greg was a strong believer in giving back to his community. He was a passionate leader and advocate for the Kaua‘i Dental Society, the Boy Scouts, Kaua‘i Hospice, Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission, and United Way.
A private service will be held in Portland, Oregon.
Geronimo Bartolome Gonzales
Geronimo Bartolome Gonzales, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 13, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Sept. 30, 1931. He was a laborer for McBryde Sugar Plantation, Kaua‘i Coffee, Dekalb, Monsanto and Pioneer Corn.
He was preceded in death by parents Donato and Anselma Gonzales and sister Feliza Gonzales.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Felipa Tongson Gonzales, children Lorna (Greg) Cerny, Zenaida (Peter) Tausend, Cornelia (Daniel) Works, Mercedes (Fredulin) Casticimo, Andy (Jane) Gonzales, Maria (Mark) Marsh, Lovelyn (Greg) Andres, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. and burial to follow.

Ernesto R. Aguinaldo
Ernesto R. Aguinaldo passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at the age of 87 years old. He was born on July 23, 1936, in Kaumakani. He was a Sugar Cane Crane Operator Loader with Olokele Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Juan and Generosa Aguinaldo, son Wesley Aguinaldo, brothers Fausto Aguinaldo and Amado Aguinaldo.
He is survived by sons Stelzig Aguinaldo of Europe, Clayton Aguinaldo of Hanama‘ulu, daughters Leane (Eric) Aguinaldo-Medeiros of Koloa, Abbie Aguinaldo of Florida, grandchildren Brandon (Tai-li) Medeiros, Samantha (Shyla) Medeiros, Jason Aguinaldo, Joshua Aguinaldo, Rachel Aguinaldo, great-grandchildren Kalin Medeiros, Cyrus Medeiros, Kyra Medeiros, Ryan Medeiros, Peyton Medeiros, Kaizley Medeiros, brother Domingo (Sunday) Aguinaldo of Kaumakani, sisters Marina (Benjamin) Villatora of Puhi, Julia (Andy) Tambua of Wailua, Carol Rita of ‘Ele‘ele, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services to be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at The Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Thomas ‘Tommy’ Chandler
Thomas “Tommy” Chandler passed away on Feb. 28, 2024, in Anahola at the age of 76. He was born on May 5, 1947, in Lihu‘e. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a welder.
He was preceded in death by mother Adeline Chandler and father Kaipo Chandler.
He is survived by wife Wilma Chandler of Anahola, daughter Summer Chandler of Los Angeles County, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon. followed by a celebration of life at noon. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Lou Jyoji Nishida Sr.
Lou Jyoji Nishida Sr. passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at his residence, at the age of 87 years old. He was born on Oct. 17, 1936, in Lihu‘e. He was a retired Ag Research Technician 4 at the UH Research Center in Wailua.
He was preceded in death by wife Mildred Wada Nishida, parents George T. Nishida, Ayame Y. Nishida and granddaughter Makanalani Lucyana Nishida.
His is survived by son Lou (Marci) Nishida Jr. of Wailua, daughter Millicent Agena of Wailua, grandchildren Marissa Agena, Mindi (Holbron) Agena-Renken, Marlou Nishida, great-grandchildren Mehanaokala and Ha‘aheo Agena-Renken, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Family and Friends are welcome to visit from noon to 2 p.m. at the Nishida/Agena residence at 1070 Puuopae Rd. in Wailua. Lunch will be served.
