Kristin J. Zalesky

Kristy, the daughter of John Zalesky and Linda (Natale) Zalesky, passed away on Jan. 26 after a two year bout with cancer.
Kristin was born on May 7, 1972 in Panorama City, California. She spent most of her younger years growing up in Agoura, California, graduated from Oak Park High School in 1990 and went on to Santa Barbara City College completing her studies. After graduation she moved to Hawai‘i where she began her career as a manager of many departments with the Hyatt Hotel system. At the time of her passing she was employed at the Grand Hyatt Resort in Koloa, Hawai‘i, where she was highly respected and loved by the entire staff.
Kristy was quite an active individual. She loved to travel and had been to many countries. She was also very athletic, ran in numerous 5-10K runs. Other adventures were scuba diving and she also parachuted from a plane or two.
Although Kristy had no direct connection to the Northampton, Massachusetts, area, her grandparents were from this city as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Natale family as well as the Sharac family.
Kristin is survived by her mother Linda, her father John and stepmother Carole, her brother John III, nephew John IV, her fiancé Mr. Sandy Gottllieb, her Aunt and Godmother M. Charlene Abrahamsen and Aunt Lucille Straub.
Dorna Elva Leimamo Hung Chun Apana Ginden Mahelona
Dorna Elva Leimamo Hung Chun Apana Ginden Mahelona, 82, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Jan. 12, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on March 23, 1941, in Kapa‘a, Hawai‘i. She was a retired residential.
Preceded in death by father Ernest Apana, mother Christina Apao Apana, sisters Carolyn Apana, Shirlet and Donald Miike, Lynette Niau, Lovey Apana and son Kurt Mahelona.
She is survived by husband Justin Mahelona, siblings Beverly Muraoka (late Ernest), Russell Apana (Lori), Diane Ohata-Sims (late Roger), J. Puanani Howell, daughters Christal Vierra (Michael), Darlene Rufino (Robin), Tammy Ginden, Kaiao Mahelona Fox, Ailina Mahelona (daughter-in-law), sons Sterling Ginden, Joshua Mahelona, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties and uncles.
A service is Saturday, March 23, 2024, at LDS Church – Anthem Hills Stake Center Chapel, 875 Rich Perez Jr. Dr., Henderson, Nevada, 89052. Viewing begins at 9 a.m. and service at 10 a.m.
A celebration of life is from 2 to 7 p.m. at Oasis RV Park Ballroom 2711 W Windmill Ln. Las Vegas, Nevada, 89123.
The family requests no flowers but welcomes koden (monetary gifts).
Marvin Anthony Moura
Marvin Anthony Moura, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Jan. 26, 2024, in Kapa‘a at the age of 72. He was born on July 5, 1951, in Waimea. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired Kaua‘i Police Officer. He was known for his beautiful gardens and his love of nature.
He was preceded in death by father Clarence Joseph Moura and mother Helen Kala Duarte Moura.
He is survived by son Blake Moura of Kapa‘a, daughter Megan Moura of O‘ahu, brothers Clarence Moura Jr., Jonathan Moura, Kenny Moura, sister Antoinette Moura, cat Willie Nelson, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Military Honors and memorial at 11 a.m. Potluck and a celebration of Marvin’s life after service location to be announced. The family requests casual attire.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dominic Martin Murguia
Dominic Martin Murguia passed away on Oct. 24, 2023, at the age of 59. He was born on July 12, 1964, in Oceanside, California.
He was preceded in death by father Stanley Murguia and stepfather Bob Fox.
He is survived by daughters Brooke (Abraham) Paleo of Oceanside, California, Brittany (Nate Merkle) Murguia of Oceanside, California, three grandchildren, mother Josephine Fox, brothers Matthew Murguia of Aiken, South Carolina, Joe (Lani) Murguia of Reno, Nevada, sisters Debbie Arii of Hanapepe, Michelle Murguia of Koloa, Rory (Dan Schmaltz) Murguia of Aiken, South Carolina, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Po‘ipu Beach beginning at 12 p.m.
