Salome Wong
Salome Wong, of Kapa‘a, passed away on Jan. 6, 2024, in Kapa‘a, at the age of 94. She was born on Feb. 9, 1929, in Ko‘olau, Hawai‘i. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Luther K. Wong, parents Charles and Emma Melandish, grandson Micah L. Wong, great-granddaughter Lilinoe Wong, brothers Isaac Melandish, Joseph “Joe” Melandish, sisters Florence “Pua” Albao and Emma Oda.
She is survived by sons Zenon K. Wong of Kapa‘a, Levon K. Wong of Kapa‘a, Reuel K. Wong of Kapa‘a, daughters Novena K. (Ron) Valdes of ‘Ele‘ele, Jennelle K. (Rudy) Balmidiano of Hanapepe, four grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother Charles Melandish, Jr. of Kealia, numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service was held.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Henry Takeo Honjo
Henry Takeo Honjo, of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 24, 2024, in Lihu‘e at the age of 91. He was born on April 30, 1932, in Kalaheo. He was a veteran the U.S. Army and an auto parts salesman.
He was preceded in death by wife Elizabeth Honjo, brothers Robert and Walter Honjo and sister Florent Honjo Rapozo.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at Kalaheo Missionary Church. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a celebration of life at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire.

Tito Rasay Gano
Tito Rasay Gano, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Feb. 4, 2024, in Lihu‘e at the age of 84. He was born on Jan. 4, 1940, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was retired.
He was preceded in death by parents Dionicio B. Gano and Sergundina G. Rasay Gano, brothers Santiago Gano, Herminio Gano, sister Angelina Valdez, parent-in-law Simon (Teofista) Balisacan and brother-in-law Gerardo Balisacan.
He is survived by wife Marina Balisacan Gano, son Richie (Kanani) Gano, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brothers Rogelio (Tessie) Gano, Rudico (Lita) Gano, Oscar (Anita) Gano, sisters Consorcia (Ernesto) Agmata, Ursula (Justino) Ganotise, Cornelia (Gil) Ganal, Perlita (Luciano) Rarangol, Zenaida (Domingo) Mendoza, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation begins at 8 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Joseph Fernandez
Joseph Fernandez passed away on Jan. 19, 2024, in Lihu‘e at the age of 69. He was born on Jan. 2, 1955, in Lihu‘e. He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by parents George Fernandez Sr. and Emily R. Fernandez, brothers George Fernandez Jr., William Fernandez, sisters Juliet Fernandez, Gealidine Reuarin and son Harvey Darren Eblacas.
He is survived by wife Monique Fernandez, sons Joseph Fernandez Jr., Byron (Amber) Fernandez, Brad Fernandez, Toby Eblacas, Jonas Eblacas, daughters Shelliann Fernandez, Mekayla Claiborne, Yolanda Eblacas, sisters Anna Rita, Rosalie (James) Yamamoto, 30 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
