PO‘IPU — Everyone is encouraged to join The Shops at Kuku‘iula when they welcome the Lunar New Year with a special Flavors of Kuku‘iula celebration on Feb. 16 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
As the island’s largest family-friendly pau hana party, the Flavors of Kuku‘iula will offer culinary “street food” delights and refreshments from participating restaurants.
Guests to the Lunar New Year festivities will enjoy the memorable live performances that begin at 5 p.m. with the lighting of firecrackers and the lion dance.
At 6 p.m., the Tsunami Taiko performers liven up the night before The Greenstone Project takes over the stage with live music starting at 7 p.m.
“We are excited to welcome our guests to our annual Chinese New Year Celebration at The Shops at Kuku‘iula,” said Stacie Chiba-Migues, the regional manager at Alexander &Baldwin. “This is one of our biggest and brightest events of the year, and we love how the local community gathers to share in our special festivities.”
The Chinese people utilize the lunar calendar that marks the new year on Feb. 10 as the Year of the Dragon.
In Chinese folklore, the dragon is a majestic and lucky creature symbolizing bravery, creativity and innovation. The Year of the Dragon will be filled with potential and opportunities for personal growth, professional success and social impact.
