Culture and love come together in Lihu‘e

Kumu Kakakani Bray, of Kaua‘i Maoli Wood Carving Academy, watches on Friday, Feb. 09, 2024, while haumana Cholena Bray works on carving the “Lono-i-ki‘eke,” or “Lono of provisions” project on a 10-foot coconut stump at Kukui Grove Center. Both kumu and haumana will be involved on Saturday at Ola Ks ‘I Kaua‘i Ni‘ihau that runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LIHU‘E — There is something for everyone, said Malia Nobrega-Olivera, a board member of ‘Ahahui ‘Olelo Hawai‘i, and faculty at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa Hawai‘inuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge.
