LIHU‘E — The public is invited to submit nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Older Americans recognition to the county’s Agency on Elderly Affairs.
“Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month where we pay tribute to older adults 65 years and older who play vital, positive roles in our communities,” said Kealoha Takahashi, the Executive for the Agency on Elderly Affairs.
“This year’s theme is ‘Powered by Connection,’ which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well being. We will explore the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combatting isolation, loneliness and other issues.”
For this year’s Older Americans Month, the AEA will focus on celebrtating and honoring older adults who contributed significantly to improving community life, and to recognize their endeavors and accomplishments by nominating them for 2024 Male and Female Outstanding Older Americans Award.
The public is invited to nominate and recognize an older adult who is 65 years or older, has provided community service, has made outstanding achievements for the betterment of individuals and community, and who has provided leadership to a special cause or community need.
