LIHU‘E — JC Crouch of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball program said the league has moved into its second month without a rain out.
“‘Charlie’s Master Plan’ of using westside fields early, then on the second half, the league will feature more towards the central and eastside parks has started out strong,” Crouch said.
“The 70s Division had a beautiful day at the Rosie Bukoski field in Koloa, and it was great to get the Old Gang back together again,” Crouch said. “The Koloa Cane Cutters started off with some big hits to take the Ahukini Wharf Rates, and Na Koa Kupuna won a pitcher’s duel with Tsunami to kick off the season in great fashion.”
Crouch said the 60s Division enjoyed a beautiful day at both the Kalawai and Pat Baniaga fields for some excellent games.
“Solid Steel powered past Kuku’s Aces, Bushwackas put away a tenacious Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders squad, and Kawaihau playe great defense to overwhelm West Kaua‘i,” Crouch saID.
“Over at the perfectly-manicured Pat Baniaga field, Barteks and Makos squared off with strong hitting and defense on both side with Makos coming out on top. The Rookies took care of business against a spirited East Kaua‘i Legends effort, and Imi‘Ola held off a late charge by the Lihu‘e A’s to take the win. A tremendous day of softball all around.”
Senior softball play continues on Saturday at the Pat Baniaga, or Hanapepe, and the Wally Sonoda, or Kaumakani, fields with three contests being waged at each site. First pitch at both parks start at 9 a.m.
