Mahalo East Kaua‘i Lions Club (Steven Fuji couldn’t make it since he had to prep his bonsai for the Saturday Little Pea Christmas Craft Fair benefiting Kaua‘i Hospice) for continuing its tradition of helping at the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Lights on Rice holiday parade, where Stan’s Flying Saucers were available for purchase before Stan moved his tent to the Little Pea event (what? Ham and cheese flying saucers?) at the Kaua‘i Philippines Cultural Center … they cleared out the two-day event in time for some of the Kaua‘i Filipino community leaders and karate and martial arts practitioners to meet with Master Teacher Tino Constantino Cebrano, who was on Kaua‘i (he was born on Kaua‘i in 1941, and grew up in Koloa, Lawa‘i and Kalaheo, according to his host Luis Soltren).

With the publication of Cebrano’s new book, “Tino,” Luis is trying to get the book into the Hawai‘i Department of Education and the libraries because young people have a hard time growing up in today’s world … Marynel Valenzuela was hoping Tino would show some of the stick moves from the Goji system where Tino was the first American (and non-Japanese) to achieve the rank of 6th dan … Luis, in charge of the Goji system in Hawai‘i, is only 5th dan.
Kudos to Tricia Yamashita and the Kaua‘i Hospice ‘ohana on getting the candlelight vigils up and going following a three-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
OK, time to get ready for the Holly Jolly event coming up Saturday at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort.
