NAWILIWILI — The Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort is inviting everyone to the Grand Lighting Celebration of Ka Mala O Kalapaki on Saturday starting at 6 p.m.
During the celebration, which takes place in Ka Mala O Kalapaki or the resort’s gardens, there will be live entertainment, a mini vendor mall, snack packs available for purchase and more.
The garden lighting supplements the decorating done by the resort’s contractor and forms a background of lights for the resort’s future events, including the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce’s annual General Membership Meeting and year-end fundraiser presented by Wilcox Health and the Kumu Hula Troy Hinano Lazaro’s hoike that will feature a mini craft fair.
Kaua‘i families are invited to enjoy this holiday magic throughout the holiday season during the evening hours following sunset.
Community volunteer groups included Hawai‘i Pacific Health, Wilcox Health, Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i Comic Con, Kaua‘i Museum, Kaua‘i Community College Cognitions, or COGS program, and the Office of the Mayor and Employee Council.
“This feels really good,” said Tina Albao of the Boys & Girls Club on Wednesday as the group took advantage of the break in the weather from the Kona low lingering off the island and club members being in school. “Putting back into the community. This is what the holidays are about.”
She is hoping the feeling gets conveyed to the people coming to view the displays and they leave with the mana‘o.
