Sixto Gandhi Agoto Sr.
Sixto Gandhi Agoto Sr., 82, passed away in Lihue on Nov. 10, 2023. He was born in Sarat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 6, 1941, and moved to Kauai where he worked in landscaping.
He was preceded in passing by his son Brigido Agoto, daughter Belinda Agoto, parents Policarpio and Placida Agoto, and brother Florencio Agoto.
Sixto is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Prudenciana Calaro, children Prudencio (Noralyn) Agoto, Sixto (Aida) Agoto Jr., Marjorie Agoto, siblings Asuncion Calaro, Rogelio Agoto, Jose Agoto, Manuel Agoto, Mina Raspado, Carlene Domingo and Marcelino Agoto, grandchildren Neslie Joy Agoto, Nicaela Agoto, and great-grandchild Culen Agoto.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

Rodney Wade Oyamot
Rodney Wade Oyamot, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Sept. 13, 2023, at his home in Lihu‘e at the age of 65. He was born on Oct. 4, 1957 in Waimea, Kaua‘i. In his early years he delivered furniture for Kawakami Furniture, then moved on to driving for Big Save Co., and later drove for Senter Petroleum as a fuel truck driver.
He was preceded in death by parents Severino and Elizabeth Rapozo Oyamot, sister-in-law Helena Oyamot and brother-in-law Calvin Fukushima.
He is survived by wife Josephine Rasay-Oyamot, stepson Jason Rasay-Gasmen of Lihu‘e, stepdaughter Maren Rasay of Lihu‘e, three step grandchildren, sisters Rowena (Kelley Phillips) Fukushima of Lihu‘e, Wenda (Chuck) Moon of Waimea, brothers Mansfield (Noreen) Oyamot of Hanapepe, Malcolm (Faith Melandish) Oyamot of Kapa‘a, Jonathan (Marietta) Oyamot of Hanapepe, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at the Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation starting at 9 a.m. and celebration of life to begin at 10 a.m. The family requests no flowers at this time.

Magdalena Salcedo Polintang
Magdalena Salcedo Polintang passed away on Oct. 13, 2023, in Lihu‘e at the age of 91. She was born on April 28, 1932, in the Philippines. She was a retired chamber maid at Kaua‘i Resort.
She was preceded in death by parents Lucio Salcedo and Clara Saranillas, husband Bonifacio Polintang, brothers Mariano Salcedo, Sebastian Salcedo, Gabriel Laforga, Dino Laforga, sisters Marciana Salcedo, Marciana Laforga, and Calista Laforga.
She is survived by daughters Rose (Bernie) Semana, Glory (Efren) Taylan, Betty Polintang, Dana (Danial) Garven, grandchildren Bryson Semana, Brenna Semana, Bradley Semana, Bridgette Semana, Kira-Ashley Taylan, Travis Taylan, Jennifer Whitfield, Keanu Whitfield, Brittney Whitfield, Marley Garven, Zen Garven, great-grandchildren Chase Semana and Arya Semana.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.

Dorene Duterte Frey
Dorene Duterte Frey, 72, of Kalaheo, passed away in Lihu‘e on Nov. 2, 2023. She was born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Sept. 25, 1951, and retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Bone and Joint Center at Kaua‘i Medical Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bernardo and Annie Castillo and brother Patrick Castillo.
Dorene is survived by her husband Anthony Frey, daughter Josephine (Jason) Steele, two grandchildren, sister June Tada, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dorene’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Holy Cross Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.

Drew Kaleianaole Crowell, 60, of Kekaha, passed away on Oct. 22, 2023. He was born on July 28, 1963.
He was preceded in death by parents William and Leimomi Crowell and daughter Breanna Wilson-Crowell.
Drew is survived by his children Ashley and Dylan, four grandchildren, brother Mark Kimo Crowell, sister Michelle Kanoe (Darren) Curammeng, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.
Private services and interment will be held at a later date.

Chavit Elpidio S. Braceros
Chavit Elpidio S. Braceros, 51, passed away on Nov. 10, 2023. He was born in Aragan Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, on Nov. 16, 1971, and was employed as a facility engineer at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in passing by his wife Liwayway Braceros and father Januario S. Braceros.
Chavit is survived by his fiancé Edna Perpose, children Iyah Braceros, Destiny Braceros, Candice Braceros, CJ Braceros, stepdaughters, Carolyne Gacusan, Chyrisse Gacusan, mother Estrella Solatre, siblings Reulie Braceros, Mylene (Raymondo) Serrano, Melvin (Susan) Braceros, and granddaughter Penny Perpose.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Raphael Church on Nov. 25, 2023, visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., and lunch to follow at the church.

Justin Sebastian Bautista, of Pearl City, passed away on Nov. 13, 2023, at Kaneohe, Hawai‘i, at the age of 29. He was born on May 28, 1994, on Kaua‘i. He was an LPN as a Psychiatric Tech.
He was preceded in death by Ludovico Bautista, Vicieta Bautista, Sergio Sebastian and Flordeliza Sebastian.
He is survived by wife Sharmaine Valmoja of O‘ahu, daughter Julia Arielle Valmoja-Bautista of O‘ahu, parents Jaime and Estrellita Bautista of Lihu‘e, brother Jester (Cherry Joy) Bautista of O‘ahu, nephews Jaimeson Bautista, Jaxon Bautista, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake service will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 9 p.m. A service is Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Raphael Church. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by Mass. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Ernest S. Pabustan
Ernest S. Pabustan, 81, passed away at his home in Kapa‘a on Nov. 12, 2023. He was born in Sta. Anna, Arayat, Pampanga, Philippines, on Jan. 14, 1942. He worked at Clark Airbase as a waiter, then moved to Kaua‘i where he worked at Kaua‘i Resort, Coco Palms, and then Tropical Smith’s.
He was preceded in passing by son Stephen Pabustan, parents Fernando and Trinidad Pabustan and seven siblings.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Annie Pabustan, children Ferdinand (Gigetteann) Pabustan, Maria Genedina Pabustan, Maria Cecilia (Brad) Gipolan, Theresa (David) Mow, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two siblings.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Catherine Church on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023. Visitation starting from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at St. Catherine Church Kealia Cemetery.
