NAWILIWILI — Pink food, including dessert, generated the $4,933.60 contribution made on Tuesday to the American Cancer Society by the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort executive team.
“The Royal Sonesta held a quite successful promotion through the month of October with special pink food and beverage items with proceeds earmarked for the American Cancer Society toward breast cancer awareness,” said Julie McPhee, an executive assistant with Royal Sonesta.
Kittrin Cade, of the American Cancer Society, said the contribution marks the launch of the 2024 Relay for Life campaign, which will be held on Aug. 17, 2024, at the Vidinha Stadium soccer fields.
“The Royal Sonesta contribution will be used for breast cancer,” Cade said. “It also represents one of the first contributions for the 2024 Relay for Life, where every dollar counts. The donations help fund cancer research, patient care programs and can make a difference in communities like ours.”
A website has already been established for the 2024 Relay for Life. The website indicates the Kaua‘i goal is $100,000 with 277 days remaining to reach goal.
The Royal Sonesta contribution makes it the first in the Top Companies category of giving, joining the Top Teams that is currently Team Sam Jacinto with a $350 contribution, and the Top Participants category that indicates Samenta Jacinto as the top individual with a $350 contribution.
