LIHU‘E — The two food banks on the island of Kaua≠i will be holding food distribution events over the next couple of days.
The Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank (KIFB) in partnership with the Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association and the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i will host a no registration required food distribution at Kaua‘i Veterans Center starting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and continuing until supplies are exhausted.
KIFB Executive Director Kelvin Moniz said the emphasis is on family meals and local products.
Then, on Saturday, the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i, in partnership with the Hawai‘i Lodging and Tourism Association, Kaua‘i Chapter, will be leading a Thanksgiving Pop-Up Food Distribution from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Kaua‘i Community College, Parking lot P3.
“This will be a drive-thru distribution and is on a first come, first serve basis. No preregistration required. We kindly ask that those picking up food to drive slowly and with caution, and follow any signs and traffic directives,” said Tisha Remigio, the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i impact manager.
“A special mahalo to the Kaua‘i Community College and Hale Malama for the collaborative partnership and helping the need to nourish our ‘ohana. We are very fortunate to be able to provide a Thanksgiving meal to our neighbors in need.”
