Jeanelle ‘Benki’ Marie Somera
Jeanelle “Benki” Marie Somera, 54, passed away on Sept. 28, 2023, at her home in Kapa‘a. She was born on Aug. 20, 1969, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, and worked as an assistant manager at Pono Kai Resort.
She was preceded in passing by father Rudolph “Rudy” Somera and grandparents Silverio and Anastacia Pegeder.
Benki is survived by sons Ryan Somera-Gonsalves and Cory Somera-Payomo, mother Natividad Ramos and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Immaculate Conception Church beginning at 8 a.m. with burial and celebration of life to follow.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family in making arrangements.
Leonor Cezar Navarro
Leonor Cezar Navarro, of Kekaha, passed away on Oct. 24, 2023, in Waimea, at the age of 76 years old. She was born on Jan. 14, 1947, in the Philippines. She was a field technician “Bird Chaser” for Syngenta.
She was preceded in death by parents Catalina Abon Cezar and Pedro Cezar, sisters Esperanza Millet, Lydia Herreria and Florencia Esplana.
She is survived by sons Roly Navarro of Kekaha, Leonard (Vanessa) Navarro of North Carolina, two grandchildren, brothers Hilario (Gloria) Cezar of Lawa‘i, Ernesto (Delia) Cezar of Waimea, sisters Emeliana Camat of Earlimart, California, Francisca Loniza of Kekaha, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the Westside Christian Center. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., a celebration of life at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Kekaha Cemetery. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
