The umbrella of partners include Kaua‘i Veterans Council, Hawai‘i State Fusion Center, Cohen Clinic at Child and Family Service, VA Pacific Islands Health Care, Kaua‘i Community College Veterans Support Center, Wounded Warrior Project, Prevent Suicide Kaua‘i Task Force, Prevent Suicide Hawai‘i Task Force and others.
“Everyone is welcome,” said Patricia Wistinghausen, co-chair for the Prevent Suicide Kaua‘i Task Force. “This free gathering is a wonderful way to strengthen our veterans community and get engaged; like by joining one of the many Kaua‘i veterans organizations that’s listed at www.kauaiveteranscenter.org. Participating in this event empowers our communities locally, and statewide, to learn how anyone can help the veterans in their lives become connected to supportive resources.”
She added, “This is all about letting our veterans and military families know that they’re not alone, and that they don’t have to figure things out on their own. It’s about introducing them to the organizations, locally, who can help them navigate and access the benefits they’ve earned, and utilizing the programs that exist to care for and honor them for their service and sacrifice.”
