PRINCEVILLE — A yearlong renovation project at the Princeville Public Library will shutter the facility beginning Monday, Oct. 30.
The last day for full library services and to pick up requests is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28. The book drop will close on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m., and will remain locked for the duration of the renovation project.
No book donations will be accepted during the course of the project.
“During this major renovation project, a small pop-up location offering limited services is planned for the library’s parking lot,” the Hawai‘i State Public Library System said on Tuesday, Oct. 17. “The opening of the pop-up location is anticipated for late November.”
The pop-up location’s daily hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., except on state holidays.
“Patrons may browse and borrow from a small collection of materials, pick up holds, return borrowed items and access limited Wi-Fi service,” the public library system said.
The renovation project, which includes health and safety improvements, is expected to be completed in October 2024. The opening date of the pop-up will be posted on the library’s webpage at librarieshawaii.org/branch/princeville-public-library.
A year long renovation is very long! Some details on anticipated improvements would be nice. The Princeville library is a wonderful asset to the north shore.
