KAPA‘A — A near sold out crowd at Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex stadium watched the Kapa‘a High School Warriors cap a homecoming celebration with a 21-0 win over Waimea High School on Friday night before the Spectrum OC16 cameras, which occupied two pockets of bleacher space on the home side of the stadium.
Following a slow start when Kapa‘a failed to find the end zone on its opening possession, the Warriors lit up the scoreboards on the tail end of the first quarter when Kamalei Gonsalves angled right for 6 yards to cap a 40-yard drive fueled by Waikaheli Makepa who, according to Scoring Live statistics, led the Warriors’ ground game with 217 yards.
Eli Keoho iced the TD with a two-point run for an 8-0 Kapa‘a bulge with 3:36 showing in the opening quarter.
Makepa had his turn at lighting up the boards midway through the second frame, when the running back bulled 10 yards to the end zone with 5:13 showing in the half. The extra point attempt fizzled.
Following the halftime festivities, which saw Rhea Furtado announced as the school’s homecoming queen, the Warriors wrapped up their night under the cameras with a score in the fourth quarter after Kapono Na-O returned to his normal quarterback slot.
Throughout the night, Evan Daligdig did the prime starting QB duties until, with just 37 ticks remaining in the contest, Na-O capped multiple tries at the end zone with a final 1-yard push through traffic.
Overall, the Warriors piled up 217 yards of offense while the defense — that fans described as looking like the University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors — held Waimea to just 87 yards.
Menehune QB Kameron Apilado picked up 40 yards on three pass plays with no interceptions. while Kapa‘a kept the airways clear with no passes through 48 minutes. Apilado was on the other side of the ball, finishing with six tackles.
Earlier in the afternoon, the junior varsity Warriors scored early in the first half to hold on and take a 7-6 edge over the JV Waimea squad that scored in the fourth quarter when Ikaika Miyashiro found pay dirt at the end of an 11-yard scoot. A 2-point conversion play by Brayden Wilson came up short of the end zone with 6:07 showing on the clock.
Waimea High School will host Kaua‘i High School on Saturday. The Junior Varsity contest kicks off at noon at Hanapepe Stadium. The varsity contest will kick off 30 minutes after the completion of the JV game.

They are fooling themselves with the community meetings. The meetings are not qualified.
So if you’re being taxed, don’t pay it.
These men failed high school and make no income to their tenure as county council or executives

I cannot see how failures like these athletes can run Lihue Airport
And make decisions for an air traffic controller who makes $90,000 dollars per year salary because he took some trig and calculus class from MIT
Unless they the county council can beat out the MIT math guy, your county council meetings mean nothing to me or them. The traffic air controller
This is the real business community

News alert:
There was some talk over making one grand central playing field in Lihue. The Lihue Stadium has got to go. The cost of the new high school stadium will be close to $750 million dollars. But it will be public funded. And 3 high high school stadium all will play in Lihue. Some thing like Oklahoma. But I think the public shut them down already.
Ross Kagawa your county councilmen. Also has no pay. He played high school baseball and UH baseball in 1987. A picture of him in High school.
He is getting no pay as a councilmen.
There is your other county council. Billy Decosta. 1983 grad or 1984 grad. Waimea Hogh School. Bottom right.
He is making no pay as a county councilmen. They played football. And have no degree. So no pay.
I know that athletics only go with the “eye” and they don’t go with paper work or bills or a new Truck to show for. So I got this yearbook from a Waimea High School student to place it on. 1984 Menehune baseball team. Coach Walter Souza, Glenn Nitta, Vince Parangao. Walter Souza was the head coach. He’s dead is already. Ross Kagawa and Billy Decosta were athletics. And not into academics. This is the Waimea High School baseball team in1984. Not making any income is Ross Kagawa today.
This group is in the 5.58 % to 10% population of Kaua’i. So little bit. I’m one of the employees from Targets. Actually a supervisor/manager. So we pay bills. I don’t care what your newspaper says about politics. Halloween is tomorrow. So I think all the politics from Athletics in politics are comical. They don’t make a living wage. Really a freak show. I haven’t got the schedule yet for the HSAA state Championships 2023. So I don’t know if Waimea is seeded high again. Division II. But yeah, they better pass their test, or I’m flunking all of the football players from my class.
