WAIMEA — Kaua‘i High School boys placed four of its finishers in the top 10 to win the latest Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation cross-country meet that was hosted by Waimea High School at its 3.1-mile course on campus and adjoining Cook Park on Saturday.
The Red Raider runners, led by lead runner Ty Clark who finished fourth overall at 19 minutes, 32.93 seconds, finished with 35 points for the Kaua‘i boys’ third straight KIF cross-country win.
Waimea High School, placing two of its runners — Kaleb Parraga and Cedric Crampton-Nabaa — in the top five for the first time this season, finished in second place with 56 points. The Kapa‘a boys, having the honor of its Saxon Kimball finish first overall with a 19:045.26 run, were third with 68 points.
The Island School boys finished with 75 points.
The Island School girls, by virtue of placing three of its top finishers in the top 10, finished the day winning the girls meet with 35 points.
Kapa‘a High School girls, with four of its five scoring runners crossing on the tail end of the top 10, collected 46 points for second place, just two points ahead of the Kaua‘i High School girls, who finished with 48 points for third place.
Host Waimea High School girls finished with 106 points.
This Saturday’s KIF cross-country races will be hosted by Kaua‘i High School at a course yet to be announced. The gun for the first race goes off at 7:30 a.m.
