KIPU — The Kaua‘i Humane Society announces its 18th annual fundraiser, “Paws for Celebration,” on Sept. 30 from 5 to 8:15 p.m. at its shelter to benefit the animals, and celebrate the KHS’s accomplishments and vision for the future of Kaua‘i’s animals.
All of the proceeds raised during the beach-themed event will go towards the Kaua‘i Humane Society.
“We’re calling all KHS supporters to join us at our 18th annual event dedicated to sharing the successes of the year, and our plans for next year during the Paws for Celebration,” said Nicole Schafer Crane, the Kaua‘i Humane Society executive director. “It is our absolute pleasure to organize a fun event that brings the community of animal lovers together to support our mission of continuing to provide homes for our beloved pets, and offering our community help where it is needed.”
Paws for Celebration will feature a variety of activities including dinner, live music, fire dancing, live and silent auctions, special appearances by the shelter’s animals, souvenirs to take home, an opportunity to purchase Kaua‘i Humane Society merchandise, and an opportunity to hear from and speak to staff about the latest events taking place at the shelter.
Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest beach gear when doors open starting at 5 p.m.
Tickets for the event where attendees can experience “an evening in Paradise,” is available online at kauaihumane.org/paws-for-celebration. Admission is $175 per person, or a table for a group of eight can be reserved for $1,250. A note on the online registration site states that discounted pre-sale tickets are available through Aug. 16.
For animal lovers unable to attend the event, but interested in offering their support, the Kaua‘i Humane Society will host an online auction from Sept. 18 through 30. Silent and live auction items for the gala include island adventures, spa, resort stays, and more. Sponsorship for auction items opportunities can be obtained by contacting the Kaua‘i Humane Society at 808-632-0610.
The Kaua‘i Humane Society currently has 391 shelter animals, including 65 dogs and 326 cats. All animals available for adoption are microchipped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, given flea and tick preventative, and receive dewormer.
“This fundraiser is critical for our shelter to continue helping Kaua‘i animals,” Crane said. “It’s a great opportunity to celebrate with our supporters. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our donors and this fundraising event.”
Funds raised during last year’s event enabled the Kaua‘i Humane Society to purchase a new dental machine, sponsor hundreds of animals’ transfers and off-island adoptions, and perform several outreach clinics across the island.
