PO‘IPU — Wilcox Health is a major part of the success of The Kaua‘i Marathon and Half Marathon that is scheduled to run from 6 a.m. on Sunday from the Po‘ipu Shopping Village.
Wilcox Health presents the Sports and Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday at Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa. Friday hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. — the start of the Keiki Run — until 4 p.m.
“New this year, are the free five-minute skin cancer screening — on Saturday only — at the Wilcox Health booth,” said Faith Campbell, the Wilcox Health director of marketing and special projects.
During the two days Wilcox Health is participating in the Sports and Fitness Expo, physical therapists will be available to answer questions from participating runners. They will also demonstrate stretches with foam rollers on demand and provide lower leg kinesio taping while supplies are available.
The Wilcox Health booth will also set i[ a photo booth on Friday and Saturday. The booth features a 360-degree camera for souvenir photos.
On Saturday, Wilcox Health will present the “Everyone is a winner” 2023 Kaua‘i Marathon Keiki Run at the far west end of Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i.
Registration is available online. Race day registration is $30 and starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The Toddler Trot — yes, parents may accompany their keiki — is a 100-yard run for 2 to 4 year olds. For keiki 5 to 7 years old, there is the quarter-mile run. Youngsters 8 to 12 years old run the half mile, led by a “very fast” chicken, on the oceanfront lawn of Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i.
A marketplace for sports and fitness enthusiasts, the Sports &Fitness Expo is where participating runners or walkers pick up their race packets ahead of the Sunday morning start.
Kaua‘i Marathon logo merchandise is available for purchase along with various lifestyle items, and health and wellness products from the participating vendors.
